Meet The Neighbors…

Some days, I sit and wonder what is beyond the barbed wire fence out here at Infosys Mysore DC. Our compound is not inside Mysore, but rather in the middle of a semi-developed industrial park. Whenever we venture out of our sheltered existence here at what I affectionately call “Westworld” (without Yul Brynner, however), I like to see who the neighbors are – turns out, we are surrounded by the “enemy”.

Directly across the street, we have Larsen & Toubro Infotech. They are the IT services division of Larsen & Toubro, which is one of the largest construction conglomerates in India.  It is interesting to watch the Infosys guards and the L&T guards stand and watch each other menacingly – they know as well as we do that IT and software services is a cut-throat industry, rife with competitors who would sell their own mothers into slavery if it meant an extra .5% of market share.

Down the road, we have none other than WeP Peripherals. At first, I didn’t associate them as being competitors, as they make electrical and computer hardware. However, a little Googling yielded the fact that they were formerly the hardware division of Wipro Technologies Ltd. – one of our most hated rivals.

I guess there is truth to the old saying that birds of a feather flock together. However, in this instance, the birds are fighting cocks with razor sharp talons.

  1. Interesting, I didn’t know that about our surrounding neighbors. Lol at Wipro being “one of our most hated rivals”.

  2. KJS

I think we need to start each work day with a “Two Minutes Hate”, ala “1984”. Put the Wipro, Accenture, TCS logos up in rapid succession.
