The last week or so has been pretty intense at work. We are finishing up our unit on COBOL and are in the midst of a group project. It has definitely made me wish I had majored in engineering, as the instruction is basically aimed directly at engineers, with no real adjustment made for liberal arts majors. I’ve been working hard and trying to maintain my sanity – morale in the group is at a bit of a low point at the moment. Things will get better once we hit production I imagine – only 34 days (plus 4 tests, 2 projects and a comprehensive exam) and counting to go until I get the mythical black lanyard that bestows great powers upon me (and lets me leave campus whenever I please and come back onto campus after 11 PM – not that that anything in Mysore stays open past then, but it’s the thought that counts!). I’ve also heard that the lanyard cures the common cold, makes me more attractive to the opposite sex and can be used to solve multi variable calculus equations just by waving it over the paper – but those are just unsubstantiated rumors.
Also, I signed up to participate in Blog Action Day – this year’s topic is the environment. I plan on writing about some easy ways to help the environment and save some cash at the same time. Keep an eye out for that!
